Day 1: Siem Reap – Kampong Cham
Welcome to our cruise! We welcome visitors in the morning. Our knowledgeable guides give fascinating facts about Cambodia and the area we travel through to keep you engaged during the excursion.
This afternoon, you gain additional knowledge about the young Cambodian generation’s educational system. Applaud the young performers, and you will receive the warmest and happiest grins from the Cambodian people in response. We get ready to depart the ship for a bus trip to a neighboring sight that is only seen during the Mekong’s low water season while grinning (December to May).
We proceed on foot to the magnificent Wat Hanchey pre-Angkorian temple (7th century). We get to see a little of the everyday life of the many young, novice monks who reside on the Wat Hanchey site.
Day 2: Kampong Cham – Oknha Tey – Kampong Chhnang
To see the breathtaking countryside at the crack of dawn, get up early. Participate in our regular morning Tai Chi lesson to round off the experience. After that, a delicious breakfast buffet is ready for you to enjoy, or if you’d like, we can bring breakfast right to your room.
Today, our first stop is the little community of Angkor Ban. The town is renowned for its unspoiled neighborhood and lovely, historic homes. The pub serves afternoon tea while we cruise downstream. Our team is eager to demonstrate the many traditional Khmer outfits that locals still don on important occasions.
In the meanwhile, we reached Koh Oknha Tey Island. This location in the Mekong delta is well-known for producing fine silk goods. Before arriving at the village’s workshops and viewing the intriguing process of creating silk, we take a brief tour of the island’s roadways in a tuk-tuk.
After some more cruising, we reach the meeting of the Mekong and Tonle Rivers and the boat anchors for the night close to Kampong Chhnang.
Day 3: Kampong Chhnang – Kampong Tralach – Phnom Penh
We’ve just finished a lavish breakfast and are presently at Kampong Chhnang. It is probably the most interesting place to cruise in Cambodia. We board a minibus to travel to a neighboring rural community that is extremely unusual after taking a small native boat to the shore.
We return to the coast by car, where our neighborhood boat begins a tour of the marshes and other floating settlements. Back on board, the crew prepares lunch, and the boat makes its leisurely way down the Tonle River toward Kampong Tralach. When we arrive at Kampong Tralach, smiling kids greet us with exuberant waves.
We are in the heart of rural Cambodia. Until we reach a little settlement, our ox-powered vehicle drives us down the riverbank and via side roads surrounded by rice paddy fields.
The boat arrives at Phnom Penh’s port and docks there after spending some more time sailing back on board. After supper, feel free to venture out on your own and explore.
Day 4: Phnom Penh
Greetings from Phnom Penh, formerly known as the “Paris of the East.” It has kept its elegant and rustic character despite its fast expansion. After breakfast, our full sightseeing trip begins. Alternatively, you can spend the morning alone exploring the city before reuniting with the group.
We have lunch at a well-known restaurant in the area and enjoy the opulence that top addresses in Phnom Penh are known for. The cultural high points of Phnom Penh’s past continue our examination of the city. The day tour concludes with a “cyclo” ride back to the ship through the busy streets of Phnom Penh’s downtown.
This evening is unique; please accept our invitation to a magnificent outdoor extravaganza that will feature a BBQ feast. A traditional Apsara dance performance and other folkloric dances are performed.
Enjoy your dinner and a nice bottle of wine as the evening winds down while taking in Phnom Penh’s cityscape and the soothing Tonle River’s flow.
Day 5: Phnom Penh
Before leaving the ship, take one last breakfast on board your floating residence. We hope you had as much enjoyable as our crew did on this amazing river excursion. For more Mekong cruise tours, visit our website.
