Full itinerary
Day 1: Prome (Pyay)
Arrive in Prome in the afternoon and then we travel by coach to the site of Thiri-ya-kittiya, dating back to the period from 5th to 8th century. It is the former center of the Pyu Civilization with a museum of early Buddhist artifacts and sculptures.
Day 2: Thayetmyo
Today we will visit Thayetmyo, a pleasant colonial town which once guarded the border between Royal Myanmar and Bristish Myanmar. There have many of buildings consisting of the covered market which dating from this period. Thayetmyo also boasts the oldest golf course in Myanmar. Take a visit to the local, witness the colonial houses and even experience horse cart to the golf course.
Day 3: Magwe
Today we visit the two Italia complexes which are all used to keep the British at bay from Royal Myanmar. We ride the Trishaws to reach the magnificent Magwe Myatt halon Pagoda, which was constructed with solid gold bricks.
Day 4: Sale
The highlight of today is Yout-saun-kyaung monastery where has the myriad of spectacular wood carvings. Also, you can be mesmerized by the beauty of colonial-style houses, and continue cruise upstream.
Day 5: Tan-Chi-Taung
In the morning, your Jahan cruise moor at the Tan-Chi-Taung mountain and relish in the splendid view. Continue the trip to one of the most highlights of your trip with a tour of selection of more than 3,000 monuments at the World Heritage Site, it is Pagan.
Day 6: Pagan
After breakfast on the sundeck, join in the exploration by coach of monuments which is followed by a lacquer ware workshop and a visit to the bustling local market. Sailing upstream in the noon.
In the evening, take part in a walk at Oh Ne Kyaung Village to see the local life in the riverside community.
Day 7: Yandabo
Yandabo is a small rural village and it is specialized in pot making. The guide will take you to visit a Pandaw School, built with past donations from Pandaw passengers.
Day 8: Mandalay – Sagaing – Amarapura
Hop on a tour in the central Mandalay to visit the Mahamuni Pagoda and Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung teak carved monastery. After lunch, we visit Sagaing, where famous for the 1000 hermitages, sanctuaries, and it’s rich in woodcarving & religious art. Next, delve into the ancient capital of Amarapura by coach, then take a boat ride along Taungthaman lake and witness the peace and serenity of theis stunning lake and the renowned U-Bein Bridge at sunset.
Day 9: Mingun
Stop at Mungun to see the largest working bell in the world and the non-completed pagoda which is the largest single mass of brick building in the world. Also, visit the Mingun Old Peoples Home, which is originally established with the assistance of the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1930s.
Day 10: Kyauk-Myoung
Take a visit to the stunning potteries near Kyauk-myoung where have 50-gallon handmade water pots. Witness all stages of manufacture from the throwing of the pots to the week-long firing in huge kilns. In the afternoon, the ship cruises downstream to Mandalay.
Day 11: Mandalay
Disembark at Mandalay and your river cruise ends here.
