Full itinerary
Day 1: Rangoon (Yangon)
Upon arrival in Yangon, the guide will meet and then escort you to the pier and embark on your Myanmar river cruise in the Irrawaddy Delta. Stop en-route at Twante Town and explore the city center.
Day 2: Maubin – Nyaung Don
In the morning, talk a walk to Maubin, a bustling market, and the surrounding area. Afternoon activities include an exploration of the area of Nyaung Don city to visit the country’s lifestyle.
The cruise will moor at Zakagyi for overnight accommodation.
Day 3: Danabyu – Zalon
After breakfast on board, start your day with a trip to Donabyu, another less-known town with a busy port and bustling markets.
In the afternoon, stroll in Zalon city to see the splendid Golden Buddha image and the return to the ship. Moor overnight at Henzada.
Day 4: Myanaung
The Pandaw II will sail all day to reach the markets with plenty of old colonial buildings in Myanaung. This is also the mark that we enter the Irrawaddy river.
Day 5: Prome (Pyay)
Today, the ship slowly upstream and downstream the area of A Kaut Taung, view the Buddha carvings on the mountainside from the upper deck. Reach Prome in the afternoon and travel by coach to Thiri-ya-kittiya, the former center of Pyu civilization dating back the 5th – 8th century. Come and see the fascinating museum of the early Buddhist artifacts and sculptures.
Day 6: Thayetmyo
The highlight of today is Thayetmyo, the pleasant colonial town once guarded the border between Royal Myanmar and British Myanmar which follows the 2nd Anglo Myanmar War in 1855. Visit the market, witness the colonial houses and ride out by the horse cart to the golf course, go through the former British botanical garden.
Day 7: Mingla – Magwe
Your today is spent to visit Mingla, a stunning hilly town in Bago was noted for the great battle during the second Anglo Burmese war. Sit on a trishaw to reach the fascinating pagoda of Magwe Myat-thalon. Take your time to revel in that collection of nat shrines and hermitages in the temple precincts.
Day 8: Sale
Today visit the Yout-saun-kyaung monastery with its stunning wood carvings. Also, explore an area of stunning colonial-style houses and continue sailing upstream.
Day 9: Pagan
In the morning, the cruise will moor at the Tan-Chi-Taung mountain and relish in the view here. Continue with one of the highlights of your trip with a tour visiting the 3,000 listed monuments at Pagan.
Day 10: Pagan
Today is the second day in Pagan, jump in exploration by coach of monuments follow by a lacquerware workshop and a visit to the local markets to see how people work. The cruise continues to sail upstream in the noon. In the evening, walk at Oh Ne Kyaung village to meet the locals, chat with them to know more about their daily life.
Day 11: Yandabo
This is a small rural village and it is specialized in pot making. Visit the Pandaw school, teach the children some English must be an interesting experience in your travel time.
Day 12: Mandalay – Sagaing – Amarapura
Hop on a tour of center Mandalay to visit the Mahamuni Pagoda and Shwe Nan Daw Kyaung teak carved monastery. In the afternoon, take a visit to Sagaing, it is quite rich in woodcarving and religious art. Next, hop on a coach to reach the antique capital of Amarapura, take your boating time along Taungthaman lake to watch the peace and serenity of it, and especially the famous U-bein Bridge at sunset.
Day 13: Mingun
Today your cruise ship will stop at Mingun. The guide will introduce you to the largest working bell in the world as well as the unfinished pagoda, which is the world’s largest single mass of the brick building. The guide also leads you to visit the Mingun Old People Home, which is originally established with the assistance of Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in 1930.
Day 14: Kyauk Myoung
Continue sailing upstream and visit the beautiful potteries near Kyauk-myoung where stand 50 famous gallon water pots, especially they are all handmade. Witness all stages of manufacture from the throwing of the pots to the week-long firing in huge kilns. Afternoon sailing to Mandalay.
Day 15: Mandalay Disembarkation
Disembark at Mandalay. Your river cruise tour ends here, see you on the next river trip!
